Annigoni held his first personal show in 1932 with works of art in a style faithful to reality. His art then progressed with great mastery of the ancient pictorial techniques used during the Renaissance, and he created a path for himself in deep contrast with the Modernism and Postmodernism painting styles of the time.
From 1966 to 1988 he held numerous prestigious shows. In Italy, he painted frescoes throughout the country: Montecassino Abbey outside of Rome, St. Mark's Convent in Florence and St. Anthony's Basilica in Padua.
One of his most important works is the cycle of paintings at San Michele Arcangelo Parish Church in Ponte Buggianese, near Florence.
