Salvador Dalí was a Spanish painter, sculptor, writer, photographer, filmmaker, designer and screenwriter. A skilled painter and designer, he is best known for his suggestive and bizarre surrealist works. His particular style was attributed to the influence that Renaissance masters had on him. His artistic talent found expression in various areas including cinema, sculpture and photography, leading him to collaborate with artists from all fields. He said of himself that his love "for everything that is gilded and excessive, a passion for luxury and a fondness for oriental clothing" could be traced back to his self-attributed Arab descent, stating that his ancestors were descended from the Moors.
